When Orme approached me to work a PR campaign for their 95 minute long debut double album – built from two very lengthy drones – we all knew it would be a very challenging pitch for journalists. Would my PR career be left in tatters after unleashing such an audacious record upon the music press!? Fortunately, the overwhelming response to this monolith of a record stands as a testament to just how many fantastic, passionate and open-minded music writers there are in the world. This behemoth from the UK’s slowest power trio was received with praise, intrigue and bewilderment in equal measure; leading to many incredibly well written and thorough reviews from those who conquered such a challenging release.
ACCOLADES
“Oppressively slow dirges decorated with sheets of scathing psychedelic guitar.”
~ The Quietus
“There may never be a debut as creative as this again because no-one would be mad enough to do it.”
~ GBHBL – 10/10
“The minimalism used to create music so impactful is a true skill. Orme understand both noise and silence.”
~ Cave Dweller Music

FROM THE PRESS KIT
In an age of disposable and oversaturated music releases, Hertfordshire, UK’s slowest ever power trio Orme are here to buck all trends with a debut offering that dares to demand your time, and of course richly reward your patience. Beginning one’s discography with a double Dopesmoker sized album is daring, audacious and perhaps even foolish in equal measure. Yet Orme are a band that deeply respect audiophiles, musos and lovers of the album format in all its grandeur, graciously serving us only the finest (and largest) banquet for the senses. Orme are here to give you not just more, but the most.
Consisting of members of underground metal darlings Everest Queen and Praetorian, Orme began with the vision of creating a single unbroken piece of music to endure the entire length of a live performance. The trio dare to allow their music to banish the constraints of time to a realm of dream and illusion, gifting their listeners a place of solitude to think, to feel and to reflect. This ethos carried over into the studio, forging two lengthy and weighty compositions that unfold in slow motion.
Orme is an album, a chronicle, and a journey with plenty of crossover appeal. Orme not only take in the staples of drone and doom metal, but offer the acidic textured guitar spatterings of psychedelic rock, the serene stillness of ambient music, and even the alluring build-ups that propel post-rock forwards. This double album has been specially mastered by Adam Richardson (Ramesses, 11Paranoias, Blood Wolf Moon) at London’s iconic XL Recordings Studios, capturing a heady depth of sonic space, absorbing low end and nuanced sound design. In a time of convenience and accessibility, Orme is a stark reminder that great art has to be earned, and that music lovers deserve to be challenged, to be puzzled, to be confronted, and to not be led by the hand. Orme is the music equivalent to the great arthouse film directors, to the most obtuse of novels, to the finest woven tapestries, to the most painstaking paintings and to the most impossible of grand structures.
Released April 20th 2023 on CD, Cassette and Digital formats by Trepanation Recordings.
