When I first saw Din Of Celestial Birds play live in their hometown Leeds, I knew they were a special band that I would love to work with someday. I even gave the band members a nudge and a wink at the merch stand that very night. When the post-rock quintet later sent me an advance of their album to listen to, I knew in an instant that I was hearing a very special record that I absolutely wanted to sink my publicist teeth into. This fiery debut feels like something fresh for the post-rock genre. It has all the allure, drama, textures and explosions that you would expect, but the quintet have this surprising ability to hit you immediately, rarely relying on lengthy crescendos like many of their counterparts.
The stunningly elegant music that Din Of Celestial Birds make is powerful, dense, impactful, emotional, energetic and epic. The band just know how to hit you in the feels and keep things very concise and to the point. Being a long time listener and fan (and occasional visitor) of producer and engineer Joe Clayton at the fabled No Studio, I am tempted to say he has outdone himself here. This is certainly one of his best and most dynamic works as a studio recording artist, making for a perfect collaboration.
Working with the band on their heartfelt debut full length has been an extreme pleasure as they were all so on the ball and organised, and always willing to take things on board and learn about the PR process. The added bonus of Din Of Celestial Birds making their ArcTanGent Festival debut just one week after the album’s release only made working with them more interesting as there was a lot of opportunities for interviews. Not only that, but the band also released two spectacular and touching music videos for singles ‘Downpour’ and ‘MMEC’ respectively. I’m excited to see these wonderful and talented people spread their wings and I know this is just the beginning of their fantastic flight.
All bird puns very much intended.
ACCOLADES
“The Night Is For Dreamers is not just a post-rock record, but a body of work that bares the boundless ingenuity of the entire national scene that this band wondrously represent. Without question, this is post-rock at its very best and a record that truly, intricately and immaculately represents the unquantifiable human form in artistic manner.”
~ Noizze – 9/10
“There’s plenty of nimble guitar work, fingering melodies that tug at your heart, like the ascending lines of ‘Junebug’ lifting you up to the heavens.”
~ Ghost Cult – 8/10
“The emotions carried by the instruments feel too deep to reduce to mere sentences. In writing this album Din Of Celestial Birds set out to build ‘a narrative without words’, and they definitely pulled through.”
~ Boolin Tunes – 8/10

FROM THE PRESS KIT
One of the trickiest obstacles to befall an instrumental rock band is how to compose tunes that will connect with fans without a human voice to guide them. And the more daunting task… How to compose an album which tells a story and builds a narrative without words. Fortunately, Din Of Celestial Birds have conquered this from the offset; capturing the hearts of passionate music lovers up and down the UK with their emotional and enrapturing live shows.
Din Of Celestial Birds’ epic and dynamic sound has been sharply honed on The Night Is For Dreamers; a showcase of glistening guitar melodies underscored with robust synths, woven spoken word samples and lively drums. The interplay of the three guitarists allows for a sonic cascade of twinkling textures, harmonious leads and even some heavy riffs thrown in too. Though these eight instrumentals soar with dramatic and dense twists and turns, at the heart, these are tender and humble stories inspired by everyday people and situations. Each track is a slice of life, with the deceptively warm and charming opener ‘Utopia’ being inspired by a bet to write “a happy song”. Dark and fiery centrepiece ‘Laureate Of American Lowlife’ is a fitting tribute to the intimate writings of author Charles Bukowski, whilst leading single ‘Downpour’ was envisioned from gazing at people losing their minds during ArcTanGent Festival’s traditional torrential rain. The Night Is For Dreamers is an album that gets progressively darker, heavier and more cerebrally entwined with each track, culminating in a sorrowful ode to the struggle of addiction and mental illness that is ‘I Love You But It’s Killing Me’. Within each track, the listener is given the space to imagine places, situations and characters from their own life painted upon the sonic landscapes that Din Of Celestial Birds bring to roost.
Din Of Celestial Birds showcase a great knack for contrast across these 45 minutes, pairing contemplative arpeggios with chunky metal riffs, blistering high energy rock passages with graceful atmospheres, and waves of joy with moments of sadness. The Night Is For Dreamers stands as a remarkably accomplished debut record, boasting a sound that shoots for the skies, yet is rooted from a humble nest.
Released on August 11th 2023 on Vinyl, CD and Digital by A Cheery Wave (UK) and A Thousand Arms (US).
