Furious and enormous; Modern Technology unleash their fiery second full-length album Conditions Of Worth today on Vinyl and Digital formats through Human Worth. 10% of sales proceeds will go towards registered charity Choose Love – providing humanitarian aid, search, rescue and legal advice to refugees and displaced people across the globe.
Conceived behind closed doors within a world locked down throughout 2020, and finally recorded with Misha Hering at London’s Holy Mountain Studio in 2022 (which has also housed Idles, Green Lung, 40 Watt Sun and more) – Conditions Of Worth is a contemplative surge of seething fury, slowly boiled until the duo could no longer contain their exploding proverbial lid. Hering majestically reins in Modern Technology’s acidic aggression, capturing the duo’s most dense, textured and atmospheric offerings to date, showcasing the band at their largest, wildest and most empowered.
Conditions Of Worth is Modern Technology at their most vital, free and assured – A melting pot of controlled outward societal anger and brooding menace. The turmoil of living in chaos colliding with the hope of change.
“Tenacious and fiercely independent. Part doom, part noise rock; it’s grimy but weirdly crisp and it sounds enormous. There’s a buzz in the air in the UK underground for this album.”
~ Ninehertz Podcast
“One of the UK’s most compelling bands, Modern Technology return with an even stronger example of their filthy and raucous eccentrics on Conditions Of Worth. Nobody is making ‘noise’ like this in the UK today.”
~ GBHBL – 9/10
“The national sludge, doom and noise scene is in brilliant form right now, and Modern Technology stand as one of its finest ambassadors. The group’s new LP Conditions Of Worth is a testament to that.”
~ Noizze
“There’s no fun or piss-taking here. Only despair, and on Conditions Of Worth, Clarke and Gildersleeve may have found their natural habitat.”
~ Sun 13
“Their death knell for a self-obsessed society, where we consume endlessly until we’re literally bursting at the seams and leaving behind nothing but drought, famine, and waste.”
~ Cvlt Nation
“The ensuing sharp snap of the snare and the immensity of the low-end punch and the gravel-chewing bass riffage shoved me back on my mental heels. Harsh enough to take the shine off steel.”
~ No Clean Singing
“The sheer crush of this bass, surely being piped through multiple amps and cabinets, is a perfectly oozy-fuzz… Modern Technology know exactly what they’re doing, building a unique sound at their own pace and volume.”
~ Boolin Tunes – 7.5/10
