This bold music video for Salvation sees Modern Technology bassist, vocalist and lyricist Chris Clarke working as director. Painstakingly assembled from treated archival stock footage, Salvation is a striking, harrowing and very thought-provoking look into humankind’s relationship with, and mistreatment of our environment. The chosen imagery was agonised over from hours of archival footage, then graded by Clarke to create a cohesive look. The musician and director draws from his daytime profession of being a journalist in order to create a narrative and story from separate yet thematically cohesive source material.

Salvation‘s bleak and chilling imagery of dead birds and cows washed up on a riverbed, people stalking wastelands in hazmat suits, pollution spilling into open waters, and raging forest fires looks like it could be the setting of a futuristic dystopia. Yet all of the imagery is real, factual and happening today. In particular, footage of the 2020 Australian forest fires reminds us just how real, scary and present the effects of global warming, pollution and climate change are. Though challenging and difficult to absorb, Modern Technology strive for the hope of change in order to create a better world for today’s youth to grow up in. Salvation is a stark reminder that better education and solutions to make positive change need to happen on a global scale and take action right now.

I’m proud to realise the themes of this song beyond the lyrical sense and into something tangible from a visual perspective. Working on the visual articulation of this track was a chance to pull on another emotive lever, and capture the full sentiment of this song. And one that I hope resonates with others.”

Salvation is the second single taken from the duo’s forthcoming album Conditions Of Worth, released October 13th on vinyl and digital through Human Worth.
