Bristol, UK based sludge metal trio TORPOR present their latest music video ‘Accidie’, the first single taken from their forthcoming third album Abscission – released on September 15th through rising heavy experimental label Human Worth. ‘Accidie’ resides as a crushing centrepiece on the album, standing as the most direct and concise song the trio have made to date. ‘Accidie’ is a kick in the chest, boasting slabs of suffocating bass, dense down-tuned guitar and earth shattering drums – and yet Wayne Adams’ signature production and engineering brings textured noise with a bolstered melancholic atmosphere.
Filmed in TORPOR’s hometown rehearsal space, the trio chose to collaborate once again with Brighton based DIY filmmaker, editor and fellow musician Oli Melville – who previously helmed their video for ‘Jasager’ – plus music videos by Aerosol Jesus, Human Leather, Pascagoula, Wallowing and more. TORPOR and Melville wanted to achieve a video that matched the claustrophobic and confrontational intensity of the song itself, through the use of foreboding close-up shots, disorienting strobes, and by placing the band members into tight spaces. “My feeling was trying to make the video as claustrophobic as possible,” confirms director Oli Melville; “I tried to focus on angles that are jarring and uncomfortable to watch. I want viewers to take away the same feeling of dread as the music gives you.”
‘Accidie’ is taken from TORPOR’s forthcoming album Abscission. Pre-order now from Human Worth Bandcamp store.
